The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod

The iconic words of Ben Franklin “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise” encapsulate truth for success in America.

It seems so simple, yet according to the Social Security Administration fully 95% of us will struggle financially our entire lives and never achieve financial freedom. The question asked by Hal Elrod is this: “What can we do NOW to ensure that we don’t’ end up struggling like the 95% majority will”.

Elrod in The Miracle Morning does a deep dive into Franklin’s “early to rise”. Quipy as Franklin’s quote is, if fails to tell us what to DO once we wake early. Not much wealth or wisdom will come from rising early if without a purposeful plan. Thank you for the clarity Mr. Elrod!

Are you among the many who would protest, “I’m not a morning person” or “I’m a night owl”? It’s interesting from an evolutionary prospective, it was not long ago that once the sun set we lived in darkness until the sun rose the next morning.

If your caveman ancestor considered himself to be a “night owl” his only option was to stare into the darkness. When Thomas Edison invented the light bulb he did by default create the night owl.

The “I’m not a morning person” or “I’m a night owl” are lies we have learned to live that can easily be unlearned and The Miracle Morning is the guide book to do just that.

Elrod introduces us to a purposeful and intentional wake up ritual he terms The Life S.A.V.E.R.S.

S is for Silence: If you want to immediately reduce your stress levels, purposeful silence will allow you to stay focused on what’s most important in your life. Choose the silence that feels best to you, be it meditation, prayer, breathing, reflection or gratitude.

A is for Affirmations: We all can recall the “I am the greatest” affirmation by Muhammad Ali. Ali said “It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. Once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen”.

V is for Visualization: Often associated for use by elite athletes for peak performance, visualization is the process of imagining exactly what you intent to achieve and repetitively rehearsing in your mind what the outcome looks like when achieved.

E is for Exercise: Morning exercise must become a daily ritual, even if you also enjoy working out later in the day. Morning exercise will wake you up, get your heart beating and your lungs filling. Any activity is good activity. Walking or running. Stretching or yoga. Morning exercise is a must.

R is for Reading: In the words of Mark Twain, “A person who won’t read has no advantage over the one who can’t read”! And Charlie “Tremendous” Jones said “You are the same today as you will be five years from now except for the people you meet and the books you read”. Reading just ten minutes each morning is all it takes to read 18 books in a year!

S is for Scribing: Scribing, writing or journaling, call it what you will. Putting pen to paper brings clarity to your thinking. As Rolf Smith said “Ideas can come from anywhere and at any time. The problem with making mental notes is that the ink fades very rapidly”.

The Miracle Morning was not written with any specific profession in mind. Hal Elrod knew that you would likely say “being in real estate is different” so “this won’t work in my business”! And so he wrote “The Miracle Morning for Real Estate Agents: It’s Your Time to Rise and Shine”!
