How to Get Your New House Ready to Live In

Buying a new house is exciting, and Residential Inspector of America is happy about your new adventure! Now it’s time to get to work and make it feel like home. But where do you start? There are so many rooms and so much to do! Don’t worry, we’re here to help. With our inspection report in hand, you know just where some of the problems lie in your new home. Yet, some rooms need some extra love and cleaning before you can settle in. So, let’s look at a few rooms you should tackle when you move into a new house.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is often the heart of the home, so it's a great place to start when you're getting your new house ready to live in. Start by giving the appliances a good cleaning. If they're old, this will help them look their best. If they're new, this will help them stay looking new for longer. Either way, it's a win-win! Then, move on to scrubbing the counters, sinks, and floors. Don't forget about the inside of the cabinets and drawers! A little elbow grease now will save you a lot of time and trouble down the road.

The Bathrooms

Next up are the bathrooms. Give the toilets a good scrubbing, inside and out. Then, move on to cleaning the tubs, showers, and sinks. Once again, don't forget about those cabinets and drawers! A little bit of organization now will make your life much easier later on. While you're at it, take some time to declutter under the sink and in the medicine cabinet. Toss anything that's expired or that you no longer use. Trust us, you'll be glad you did!

The Bedrooms

Now, it's time to focus on the bedrooms of your new house. Start by giving all of the surfaces a good dusting. Pay special attention to any ceiling fans or light fixtures as they tend to collect dust quickly. Then, move on to making the beds and putting away any clothes or belongings that are still packed up from your move. Once everything is put away, take a step back and admire your handiwork! Your bedrooms are now clean, organized, and ready for some serious relaxing.
